September 6th-8th 2019
JCI Norway Senate proudly invites you to Drammen, the beautiful river city situated about 40 km west of Oslo. You arrive easily by the airport train from Oslo Airport Gardermoen in just one hour. Drammen is awarded internationally for the impressive development, which still is ongoing, to make the city the preferred location for new business and conferences.
In September 2019 it’s time for Senotium and for you and the other Senators to find out what Drammen has to offer.
Friday, September 6th
The Golf Tournament - JCI Norwegian Senate Open, Pre-arrangement for enthusiastic golfers.
The tournament has long traditions in the Norwegian Senate. It has been featured on the program since Senotium in 1999, in #40707 Stein Graf’s reign. This year the tournament will be arranged at Kjekstad Golf Club, Friday September 6th at 10 AM. The tournament uses the Stableford system and is open to both Senators and companions. The initiator for the event is #28853 Anders Fløistad. Please contact Anders via email, firstname.lastname@example.org, for any practical information needed, including transport.
Drammen Museum with the Japanese Garden - Pre-arrangement for culturally interested Senators.
As an alternative to the golf event, why not make a visit to Drammen Museum, only 15 minutes walking distance from our hotel. We can offer a guided tour, Friday at 3 PM. The museum is located at the historic Marienlyst estate in Drammen and houses the permanent collections of Nøstetangen glass, baroque silver, ceramics from the 1700s, furnitures, textiles, interiors, religious art and folk art, as well as the museum’s permanent art and design collection. The tour also includes a walk in the surrounding park and ends in the Japanese Garden, a beautiful place for reflection.
Comfort Hotel Union Brygge will be our home base for the Senotium, located near the riverside only a 10 minutes walking distance from Drammen Railway Station. The official program starts Friday evening at 6 PM. The JCI Norway Senate President invites you for a welcoming drink, before we have a presentation by Chamber of Commerce related to “Business growth 2020”, a four-year project being an amplifier for innovation and growth in Drammen. The work is organised within the four priority areas: real estate development, health care, visiting industry and entrepreneurship.
Thereafter we will have a tasteful Tapas buffet at the hotel, before we cross the Ypsilon bridge and enter “Roklubben” where we will have our get-together party at 9 PM, including the Senotium Quiz Team Championship. The Senate Bar will be located here the whole evening.
Saturday, September 7th
The program for Saturday starts at 09:00 with a visit to Conexus / CXS Nordic.
Since 2001, Conexus has created success and long experience in building national and comprehensive mapping solutions for the school sector, where they have seen what influences student achievement and inner motivation.
CXS Nordic has emerged in the wake of this insight and experience of what this has to say in a business perspective focusing on strength-based leadership. They put us as 24-hour people into a lifelong learning perspective, and provide tools for self-insight and self-management so that we all can be prepared for change and take responsibility for our own development.
CXS's tool vip24 is such a tool that is rigged for the employee to take on a greater responsibility for their own development and the organization to be prepared for future structural changes. A couple of weeks in advance of Senotium you will be sent a link to complete your own personal Interest and Preference profile.
Today, vip24 is used by DNB bank, NAV and major Norwegian municipalities, and exciting results have emerged internationally with countries CXS is working with in Asia.
The founder of Conexus, Steinar Evensen, will inform about the trends and opportunities he sees ahead by understanding how we use insight about human strengths in a smarter way to meet the changes we are facing.
At 11:00 we go by bus to Egge Gård. The farm's history dates back to 1702 and is situated in the middle of the agricultural village Lier, facing south with a view over the entire valley. Today they produce about 250 tons of strawberries a year. In addition, they have several thousand apple trees that normally yield 100 tons of apples each fall. The farm is today run by Marius Egge, who is the 11th generation. Marius is passionate about both food and drink, and he saw early a potential in the great sour Norwegian fruit. Based on apples from the local area, Marius has developed a comprehensive and diverse production of both high-quality alcohol-free and alcoholic beverages. He always wants to try new methods and techniques and emphasise to be the front runner.
Marius will give us a presentation of the farm and the production. The highlight will be the tasting where we are presented with a selection of alcohol-free / alcoholic drinks, in addition to have our lunch here. You can read more about Egge gård at www.eggegard.no (only in Norwegian).
After the exciting visit to Egge gård, we bring you back to the City Centre of Drammen or the hotel. You will have some time to go shopping, visit nice places around the Town Square or explore more of the riverside on your own.
Saturday evening’s dinner and party will be held at St. Olavs Club at 7 PM, in the historic building of Drammen Børs. This is within 10 minutes walking distance across the river from the hotel. Drammen Børs was a stock exchange in Drammen established in the first half of the 19th century. Here goods were traded as opposed to shares.
Although the stock market function was closed down in 1988, the building is still an important part of Drammen’s cityscape. St. Olav’s Club is part of the venue on the second floor, being the city’s premier party and entertainment venue. The JCI Drammen Senator #66612, Hans Petter Tonum, will give some historic facts about Drammen Børs and St. Olav’s Club, before we enjoy the evening’s dinner.
The Chef will serve us a tasty three course meal, with wine/beer or mineral water included. After dinner we will enjoy coffee avec in the club, where drinks from the Senator Bar will be available through the evening. However, wine and beer needs to be bought from the club.
Sunday, September 8th
After a good night's sleep and breakfast, we will have a sequence at 10.30 - 11.30 AM: What now, JCI Norway?
The President of JCI Norway 2019, Nora Gamst, will give us a summary of the strategy for JCI Norway for the next 2-3 years, where we open for questions, discussions and input from the Senators.
